Time for Old Soldier McCain to Fade Away

Senator John McCain (R, AZ) continues his criticism of fellow Republicans for filibustering confirmation of CIA Director John O. Brennan over the White House’s drone policy.

mccainWhile interviewing with the Huffington Post, McCain used the term “wackos” to describe Senator Rand Paul (R, KY), Senator Ted Cruz (R, TX) and Representative Justin Amash (R, MI).

“They were elected, nobody believes that there was a corrupt election, anything else…But I also think that when, you know, it’s always the wacko birds on right and left that get the media megaphone,” said McCain.

When pressed for clarification on who the wackos are, McCain responded “Rand Paul, Cruz, Amash, whoever.”

It seems like just yesterday that McCain was relishing his role as maverick, while using the megaphone provided him by the media to gain the 2008 GOP presidential nomination.

Some Republicans, led by McCain and Senator Lindsey Graham (R, SC), worry that the filibuster, which focused lots of positive attention on Paul, might end up reflecting poorly on the party.

Might these be the same Republicans who nominated Gerald Ford in 1976, sought to nominate John Connally or George H.W. Bush while opposing Ronald Reagan in 1980, nominated Bob Dole, John McCain and Mitt Romney?

Clearly, the most successful nominee in that bunch was the most Conservative: Reagan.  That the GOP continues to cling to the notion that presidential electoral success hinges on nominating the most moderate candidate largely explains their lack of recent success.

To his credit, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, who may prove to fit into the Conservative new blood category, described the filibuster as “completely awesome.”

Meanwhile, in a radio interview with former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, Paul responded to McCain: “You know, I think he’s just on the wrong side of history, and on the wrong side of this argument, really.”

Paul continued by saying he respects both McCain’s military service and his legislative record, but stressed that McCain’s experience does not mean he is always right: “I treat Senator McCain with respect. I don’t think I always get the same in return.”

Americans on both sides of the aisle honor McCain for his service.  However, McCain must realize that it is time to pass the torch of leadership to a new generation of Conservative leaders demonstrably capable of filling his seemingly vacated role as maverick while leading Republicans to electoral victory.

  6. Ole SC Says:

Mr McCain, for 30 or more years you have served in the US Congress and at each re-election you took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. Apparently, you made that oath under false pretenses and committed perjury each time. Your actions in many cases over that 30 or so years you have ignored the constitution and violated your oath of office. That in itself should be enough for impeachment. Actually, back during the Keating S&L bribery indecent you should have been drummed out of office and even gone to prison. However, it is my opinion that your military service saved your butt at that time, while you let the other four corrupt Congressmen that were also involved take the fall.

Mr. McCain, you have always sided the anti-american side of political issues and did more to help the opposing party than almost any other Republican in office along with your cohort Lindsey Graham.

You were surprised that lost the 2008 presidential election and tried your best to blame it on Sara Palin. Well I would like to inform you, that if it had not been for Sara Palin, you would’t have gotten as many votes as you did. Actually, Sara Palin was the only qualified candidate of the four final people in the race. You, Biden and Obama surely weren’t qualified and still aren’t.

Now that you have shown that you have no allegiance to the Constitution, which is your only purpose in the Congress, the noble thing for you to do is tender your resignation immediately.

McLame, the “wacko turd” from AZ has been past his time long ago. He is a socialist/communist CFR member for years and no real Republican would vote for this “turn coat”. He and Obama should along with Lindsay Graham should all have impeachment papers drawn up against them. They are ruining our country with their left-wing trokoa.

  8. Lowell Says:

Drinking the Obama Kool Aid has made McCain and Graham so wacky once they are voted out they will need 24/7 bedside care. Hope they are out before the total collapse of our once great nation.

Its time for McCain,Lindsey Graham, and John Boehner to hit the road.

McCain and Graham seem to be drinking the Kool-Aid being served buy OB and cant or wont stand up to Him.
Boehner cant stop crying long enough to see anything.

If they all had the guts Rand Paul, Cruz, and Kelly Ayotte did maybe we could reign in some of OB’s
    anti constitutional objectives.

McVain deserves NO respect. He is a traitor, an adulterer, a mean, self-serving egotist, whose efforts led directly to the abandonment of the MIA’s and POW’s of Vietnam. There is nothing good to say about hi, except that his term of life is nearing its end and he won’t be able to do much more evil. God have mercy on his soul, because he is one of the worst specimens of humanity on earth, rivaling Obama in malice and vanity.

  15. Mr Tumnus Says:

It’s past time for Sen. McCain to retire. AZ can let him be Senator Emeritus if they wish, but, pulleazze – get him out of Washington.and save the country from the likes of him. And the same goes for Graham of SC. He never should have been elected in the first place. He has consistently voted contrary to the interests of both SC and the rest of the country. Time to sweep the floor, folks!

  16. adair Says:

McCain should have had the grace of Bob Dole, who resigned from the Senate and got out from in front of the TV cameras when he lost in 1996. Petulant old geezer.

  17. VES Says:

McCain …Graham .. etc. have repeatedly worked Against Natural Born Legal US Citizens for Decades!! They have worked tirelessly for Foreign Nationals and ILLEGAL ALIENS and Ignored and Refused to look after the Best Interest of Legal US Citizens ..they need to be Removed from ALL Committees and stopped from doing Further Harm to Legal US Citizens!! Elected US Gov Officials are to look after the Best Interest of Legal US Citizens and NO ONE ELSE..this has been Rudely Ignored for Years!! It is time for Change and we need to start at the TOP and remove ALL there over a few years!

  18. Denny Says:

  20. Don Reed Says:

it is time for the “north vietnam cantidate’ to get out. as vietnam era veteran i have grown more and more disgusted with what called itself conservative but who is in reality a progressive liberal. i remember him sort of saying so also. and to turn against someone who is a true conservative is disheartening. i honor him for what he went thru. but that cannot carry him anymore and pay for what he has become. vet usarmy 1964-1967

  23. Jean Reynolds Says:

There was a time when I believed that we as a Nation could trust McCain, but that is no longer true. Also, Lindsay Graham and a lot of others should be impeached. Actually there should be a law that we as there employers should be able to fire them. Anyone who does not stand up for our Constitution.
This is also true for Obummer!!!!!

Veterans Today says his father, the 1967 admiral of the Mediterranean fleet may have launched the unmarked Israeli jets which attacked the U.S.S. Liberty, and McCain was being blackmailed for his collaborating partying with his North Vietnamese captors.Pretty strong accusations. Me personally, I have an old friend who said McCain and his pals ripped off a group of real estate investors in Arizona. This person was a staunch republican, but law abiding.

  26. Zatara Says:

It’s uplifting to know that there are others who know McStains true colors. I’ll say it again, there are many of us Vietnam Vets that call him the Manchurian Candidate. Yes he was a POW, and Yes he was tortured, but what has he done for us lately?

  27. Francie26 Says:

McCain served America well in Vietnam, and he earned our undying respect for that and for bringing us Sarah Palin. But he lost me when he honored Obama by going to dinner with him, and then later spitefully spewed out that Senator Paul was a grandstander. He was angry that Senator Paul rose to a level McCain had even forgot exists, and gave the republicans our first ray of sunshine and hope since before Obama began dragging our country in the dirt on a regular basis. Whatever he was before, McCain is now a RINO, and he belongs at home with Cindy. Maybe she can tolerate him these days. I can’t.

  28. Old Peddler Says:

I think he is living on another Planet, if he thinks ANYONE would be supporting him. He blew it last time. And he is hurting the Republican Party continually by not supporting our new bright Republican (not RINO!!!, like McCain!!).

What ELSE will he do to support Obummer and hurt the Republicans????

A LOT of people served in the military, and many thousands did not come home. He was lucky to survive and should have sought gainful employment. mayo1032@msn.com
